Fluxbox and Ubuntu Hoary...SLOW!

Hi everyone,
I have run into an issue with Fluxbox, both version 0.9.12 and
0.9.13, and Ubuntu 5.04(Hoary).
I sucessfully compiled and installed Flux, but the problem arises
when starting FB, restarting FB from the menu or changing themes.
Flux is REALLY SLOW. Typically, when logging in, FB will be up and
running in 2-3 seconds, but under Ubuntu it can take upwards of 30
seconds. The same for the restaring FB from the menu. Changing
themes takes about 10-15 seconds. Other than these issues, FB seems
to work fine.
Other users on the Ubuntu mailing list have had the same problems
and some were wonderin if it's a xorg issue, but I don't think that it
would be considering that I am using the latest versions on Fedora
Core 3 boxes with xorg just fine.
If anyone has a clue, please let me know!
