Hi Joe,

If you're using svn, then you should definitely get good performance out 
of it.

The only thing I can think of is that your games aren't running in 
accelerated/fullscreen mode. I'm not familiar enough with them to guess 
how to toggle this.

Check that acceleration is on with:
$ glxinfo | grep ^direct
direct rendering: No

(if it's working properly, it should say Yes...).
If it says yes under KDE, not No under fluxbox... it's not flux's fault. 
That is an X setting.
