(Solved!) Fluxbox on Debian

Thanks to everyone who responded, especially [email protected]. 
I created a file in my .fluxbox directory named "apps" and provided the 
following command

[startup] {gkrellm -w}

and that did it.

you could try the .fluxbox/apps file ::

   [startup] {gkrellm -w}

if you only use fluxbox, if you switch windowmanagers sometimes
.xinit might be better.
