I had similar problem like a year ago, and though I just updated gtk+ to
the version 2.8, I didn't think about connecting those two events. In
my case fluxmenu had saved the file just up to the string I was editing,
but it was very close to the beginning of the file. Fortunately, I had
like a week-old backup, though I lost couple entries.

I can't confirm that this is a permanent problem with fluxmenu after
update, just because I no longer use any gui-tool to configure fluxbox.
Furtunately, vim does not wipe the files when crashing.
