Hi Mathias, thanks a lot for your time.
If I understand well, a shell environment is provided only by login 
or interactive shells. So is there a way to launch fluxbox in the 
context of a login/interactive shell, thus providing standard 
environment variables (like $PATH or $LANG for ex.) to fluxbox (and 
the programs launched by ~/.fluxbox/keys and ~/.fluxbox/menu)?

Like you suggested I could simulate the behavior of such a shell by 
executing .bashrc, .bash_profile, or /etc/profile etc. in 
~/.fluxbox/startup:

  .
  .
  .
  /bin/sh -c "source .bashrc; source .bash_profile"
  exec /usr/bin/fluxbox -log ~/.fluxbox/log

or something similar, but that would be very depended of bash (if I 
install an other shell it wont be the same syntax/config files). 
Maybe a more elaborate script than the two lines above... :-)
