Popup when switching windows/workspaces, modified window list?

Is there a way to get a useful popup menu to appear when you switch windows (via ALT+TAB) and a way to get a similar popup when you switch workspaces? Also, is there a way to get the workspace list (as can be seen when middle clicking on the root window) so that it does not bury the window lists under a separate level for each respective workspace?
