No idea - but I have the same issue, happening most often to Firefox. I
managed to see the windows again, after right-mouse-click in taskbar and
iconofy, maximise, unmaximise and so on - and then they re-appeared
(sometimes) .

I don't use xcompmgr, and I *think* it happens more often under ubuntu
oneiric then under natty.

Any ideas how to fix this permanently?
