A lot of other programs autostart fine using 'startup' like yakuake and
thunderbird etc.

Here is the last part from my 'startup' file:

    fbsetbg ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/my-fluxbox.jpg
    idesk &
    wmcpuload &
    nm-applet &
    yakuake &
    clipit &
    /opt/mailnag/mailnag &

    bbpager -w &
} &

wait $fbpid
