Why does "Regen Menu" clean up old entries on Linux but not on Netbsd?

Hello,

RE: this thread on netbsd-users
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-users/2013/11/15/msg013564.html

There was (and probably still is) a bug in fluxbox-generate_menu
shipped with Netbsd, resolved by removing a backward slash, as per:
http://sourceforge.net/p/fluxbox/bugs/835/

Even after correcting the script, when I run >Tools>Regen Menu, I
still see tons of apps which are not installed. Is this intended
behaviour?

I've used Fluxbox since 2004, first on Damn Small Linux, then Debian,
then Slackware. I don't have these systems installed any more but I
remember that using the Regen Menu tool, the menu was being cleaned up
and only the installed application were shown.

Apart from an evident difference in file structure between the two
systems, is there anything that can justify this behaviour?

Is there any file that I can post attach and somebody can give it a
look if there's something wrong?

Thanks
