Rafael, I will certainly let you know if I find out anything. I've been trying out i3 for a couple of weeks now, and as much as I like fluxbox, which I've been using for years, I find i3 does some things a bit better. Although it's a tiling window manager, it's possible to set it up to use tabbing by default. And all you need to do is set which workspace an application should open on and it tabs with no further effort on the user's part. There are some things that fluxbox does better, like being able to bring up a window menu with a keybind or mouse to remember window positions and properties etc. With i3 all there is is config editing, and there are no commands to go workspace left/right, so I had to make a couple of binds with some shells scripts using wmctrl to do that. But this grouping problem is a show stopper now that I need to tab windows together. I'm hoping that one of the devs might see this and provide some insight.
