Gthumb works well enough for me on both Ubuntu (18.04) and FreBSD (12.0). No crashes at all so far. And anyway, even if the thing crashes, it might not be the thing itself. I reported a bug to the FreeBSD folks recently where Opera was crashing every time I tried to opne the print menu: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=238413 It turned out that the actual bug was in a thing called libproxy that it was using. (The version number for that library is currently 0.4.15 :-)
