Initial Comment:
This patch adds a small memory usage applet for the taskbar, similar to existing the CPU usage applet.  It is disabled by default.

I am also going to attach a gentoo ebuild file that you can use if this patch never makes it into an official release.  Of course you it only works on gentoo, and you'll need to setup a custom overlay for it.
