I have never had slowdown with moving around windows when I have 2d acceleration enabled. I would check to make sure your drivers are loaded correctly. Yes, I am inclined to agree now. My Ubuntu Maverick partition does NOT suffer this problem. IceWm there runs quickly and smoothly, even moving and resizing windows. There must be a major problem with Xwindows on my Debian Testing partition, but I am at a loss to figure out the problem. I cannot even remember when it started acting this way. I will have to look into how X is configured...maybe it's loading the wrong driver ??
