Your right. I just saw an article and read a coouple of more to see what whas going on with Ubuntu as I use Debian 
but reccomend Ubuntu for new users. I read a bit on Wayland and it seems it is still early but progressing. Network communication is still being developed.  Off the top if you said that xorg was done as of today I would guess that IceWm and the boxes would be with us for few years.
