Screen saver with IceWm

I am trying to use the Mate screensaver with Icewm, v 1.3.8 on Debian 
Sid but it's not working. It's loaded
and running but when I set the preferences with a start time of one 
minute nothing happens.

Has anyone gotten a screensaver to work with Ice?  I am also running 
rox-filer to use its' facility
to put icons on the desktop...could this have something to do with the 
screensaver not working ?
