Startup programs

Hello!

I'm newbie in Ion (I've used just a few days) and I've a question:
How can I run programs (gkrellm, gtubeclock, peksystray, liferea,
mail-notification) at Ion startup?
I'm using ion-2-20040729 and start via "startx" (I don't use *dm).

I've tried in ~/.xinitrc ( ion & gkrellm ) but it doesn't works :(

Any suggestions?
