Ion seems to ignore my ~/.ion3

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble getting Ion (3-20080411 built from source) to
read the config files in my ~/.ion3.

For example, I had set an ALTMETA key in my ~/.ion3/cfg_ion.lua file,
but this setting is not retained after an Ion restart. I've also tried
specifying ~/.ion3 as a -searchdir, but no dice.

Permissions are rwxr-xr-x on .ion3 and rw-r--r-- on cfg_ion.lua.

Is there something I'm overlooking?

PS: congrats and gratitude to the author of this awesome piece of
software. I've been using Ion for 2 days and it makes everything else
look like a toy!
