I am wondering about the license displaying at freshmeat.net ...

    Software License

Ion ............. Other/Proprietary License with Source
    daemontools ..... Public Domain
    qmail ........... Public Domain
    djbdns .......... Freeware
    cdb ............. Freeware

Yes, is it so?! I am not a champion in license discrimination and disputing,
but I am skeptic a bit on the assignment: DJB's software as public domain or
freeware (not even sure the latter are synonyms by the way).

In a sense, I do also not care too much on a--perhaps?!--sloppiness in license
discrimination at freshmeat.net (or who for them); *legally* binding (I am
guessing, correct me please) are rather the license or the disclaimer that
come with the software.

I find ... bizarre (bizarre rhetorically speaking) those *double-standards*
(provided they are such--I apologize if I am mistaken). DJB's software getting
a ... *green light*, so to speak, and Tuomo's software getting a *red light*
(after all, seeing an "Other/Proprietary License with Source" is likely to
scare away enough people).

To let us understand, the ratings (for what they are worth, okay--but still,
they likely influence people nonetheless) at freshmeat.net are

    Ion .............. 8.81/10.00
    wmii ............. 8.87/10.00
    dwm .............. 8.74/10.00

Time ago (remembering ... correct me please) the ratings were: Ion #1, wmii
#2, and dwm last ... BUT: last with a significantly lower score. (Not sure
whether Ion's score has augmented in the meantime.)

Cheers,
