Here at WinXP I can create (best under "Desktop") dirs close to 255 chars. But if you try to put files into them, it won't work. You can also put files in dirs <255 chars and then rename some of the dirs so that the full file name is longer than 255 chars. Then they become unusable: no icons, no clicks, nothing... bye, Adam.
