I just wanted to add this:

menu.items.active.bg: flat border

without having to copy and modify the entire themerc.

Nevermind.

Btw, the goal of the line above was to add a border to the menu items
in order to avoid the menu icons getting too close to each other. In
most of the default themes there is no separation at all between the
icons. I haven't found any property to increase the separation between
menu items. The only workaround I came up with (inspired by the
Clearlooks theme) was that "menu.items.active.bg: flat border". But
looks too hackish. Is there any better way?

Best regards
