i didn't mean it like that; those were just examples from inconsistent 
usage i found inside various themercs.
i /think /the osd.* settings have been added relatively recently, but 
they are documented in the wiki.

i since came to the conclusion that the syntax most probably simply 
hasn't changed since 2013.

but it's pretty complex, and some aspects are not fully covered in the 
wiki; e.g. the parentrelative option: it's pretty powerful (i can 
combine inherited & new options, e.g. a pressed button = "parentrelative 
sunken"), but also not always apparent from where it actually inherits.

it would be interesting to create an example theme with as few lines as 
possible, using parentrelative and inherited defaults to the largest 
extent possible (without defaulting to the inbuilt defaults).
