This one needs a bit more autotools goo to handle the m4/ directory, I'm
cooking another diff to first refresh our autotools setup, then add
those changes on top.  The xft-utf8 branch on git.wxcvbn.org will be
deleted as soon as the changes it brings will be pushed on the savannah
git repo.
