Setting this back to the default marco and using the current release
installed as .debs fixes the long delay but I still have the bizarre
lack of interactive resize of (just) mate-terminal.  I'll keep trying
things.

Despite my flailing, (or maybe because of it!) it would be great to
have these session files get added to git and into the Debian
packaging.
