could you explain this a little bit more clearly....

Some Examples:
For me, this is working:
$var = 0
for $i = 1 to 20
 $var = $var +1
 MsgBox(0,"",$var)
Next
 
or dou you mean:
$var = 0
$name = "name"
for $i = 1 to 20
 $var = $var +1
 $name_new = $name & $var
 MsgBox(0,"",$name_new)
Next

another issue !
not sure how to get the number to increment ,
it does not seem to be working.
I should get 
Name 0 (first time through)
Name 1 (second time and so on so on )
just not incre.

$l_newlast = ($last_name &" " & $adlast)
