Hi, For those of you who want to do projects on windows ce, here are some suggestions. I am really not sure if these are of interest to you as school projects, they are more like my wish list for pocket pc. I hope you would develop them under GPL, so we could all use them. 1-An sftp client (and server?) 2-A program to unerase files in or unformat memory cards, that work on the pocket pc itself. This could be a two-step project: First a hex viewer/editor for the memory card. Then something to reconstruct the FAT. 3-XWin32 server. Rainer has ported an Xfree server, but I am not sure if this could be used to respond to clients over an ssh connection. 4-A wince program to extract cab files from the desktop setup executables. I hate to go back to my desktop just to be able to install a program. 5-A program to covert icon files (.ico) into dlls, so that they can be used on the pocket pc. 6-A SIP that is customizable by the user. The default keyboard does not have some of the characters that I use, but instead supports a bunch I never use. This would be very useful for internationalization. 7-A port of ghostscript & gv. 8-A port of C modules of Twisted for python-ce. 9-A simple, light-weight and free voice command system. These are mostly application-level projects. I use my pocket pc almost as a real pc & I like being able to do everything on it. :) Finally something big: A way of creating a memory swap file on memory cards. I don't really know if this is practically possible for wince, or even feasible in terms of speed etc, but if you could do it, that would be a great hack. You could also look for projects in the Familiar Linux distros as well. Cheers, E. ------------------------ Yahoo!
