SSH stops working at su-command

Hi all,

I just (successfully) installed the SSH on my Qtek 9090. I am able to
make contact and run commands, but when i do 'su' to get root rights,
ssh shows the Password-prompt, and after that nothing more. I input my
pw, of course, and send a carriage return - nothing happens. More cr's
- nothing. Ctrl-c - nothing. Have to finish SSH and start anew.
This is a big problem, since those servers do not allow a direct root
login, only public-key logins to non-privileged accounts, and there is
no 'sudo' available. When logging in from other platforms, the
'su'-command works as expected.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
