Re: Question about how Win CE multitasks...

First... a note:
I don't know a thing about WinCE 2.11.  I've used WinCE 3.0 (Handheld
PC 2k) and WinCE.NET 4.1 and what I say applies to those.

WinCE is a multitasking OS, unlike Palm OS.  I have never had a
problem with an app in the background not recieving CPU time.  For
instance, most recently for me, on CE.NET 4.1 on a Sigmarion 3, I've
had no problems running an FTP server in the background and having
files being transferred to or from the CE machine while at the same
time, browsing the web or checking my email via telnet/ssh on the same
CE machine to kill time during the FTP transfer.  

Now, this could have something to do how these apps were written, of
that I'm not sure.  Perhaps they had a background Service (a thread)
doing the IP work, and a GUI tacked on- or perhaps not. I've no idea
if that matters or not.  Also in general, to answer your earlier
question, yes, a background app can still process, still gets
allocated CPU time. Many I've had a script run in the background,
usually written in perl or REBOL, do some computation while I play a
low-CPU game in the foreground.
