Hi everyone:
This may not be the right core group for this issue. But you folks are like
family and there are many all-rounder guys on this community. So, here goes:

We are trying to originate a distributed transaction from
System.Transactions. Then, predictably enough, this transaction got
escalated to MSDTC because 2 Sql Server connections were opened in the
transaction. Problem is that MSDTC failed. When I tried DTCPing, it succeeds
only in one direction: from the XP sp2 machine up to the w2k3 sp2 server but
not in the reverse direction. DTCPing reports it as an RPC failure.
I have enabled network DTC on both machines and relaxed all the options in
the MSDTC/Security Configuaration Tab of Component Services. Yet, I get the
same problem. Here is the failing DTCPing log from the Server to the Client:

DTCping log file: C:\_LOCALdata\dtc.ping\unzipped\2496.log
RPC server is ready
Please Start Partner DTCping before pinging
