Settings Files and Hashtables

I'm trying to store a collection of column widths in my user settings.
However, if I define a setting that is of the HashTable type, the class
generated by the designer doesn't include code to instantiate the object.
Using a simple string type setting works as expected.  Is this a limitation
on only using certain types for settings, or what?
