I realize that. But is there any practical difference between assigning a value to a class level variable in the declaration and assigning a value to a class level variable in every constructor? How does the compiler handle the assignment in a class level declaration? Is there a 'behind-the-scenes constructor' called on object creation that handles the assigning of such variables? This is more of an academic question...
