Thanks for your feedback.

Shawn - There is some .Net code that I wish to execute before the
activex exe is called. I'm trying to wrapper the legacy apps with a
swanky new centralised security\authorisation\settings entry point.

Possibly I'm looking at this the wrong way, I simply need to:
Run some .Net code
Launch an ActiveX exe (which will be registered on the fly) from this
code
Not have anything else running, except the the launched process.

Matt - Your idea of starting the process using
System.Diagnostics.Process is interesting, I'd need to change to passing
in command line parameters, instead of methods, but this is possible, so
I'm going to have a look at that.

Thanks,
Simon

Can't you just run the ActiveX.EXE? Why the console project?

Thanks,

Subject: [DOTNET-CX] Launching ActiveX applications from .Net

Chaps,

I'm working on a project that requires me to launch legacy ActiveX Exe
(VB6) applications from .Net (I'm using C#)

I've created a console application that successfully launches my ActiveX
applications, but these applications are destroyed when that console
application terminates.

Well kind of destroyed, the GUI terminates, but the process lingers on
according to Task Manager.

So I've been trying to find a way of creating a thread, launching my
ActiveX, then destroying the 'parent' thread (I believe this is called
an orphaned thread), because I don't want the console app to continue.
But I've not had much luck.

Has anyone got experience in this area?

Simon James
