Re: C# - Windows Embedded Studio

Windows XP Embedded can run the full .NET Framework - so you can pretty
much write as normal. If you're not building your own OS image, you'll
probably want to check what version of the framework (if any) is
included on the device.

Windows CE/PocketPC/Mobile/SmartPhone uses the .NET Compact Framework,
also developed with VS (there's an option on install, IIRC).

I haven't heard of a MicroCLR - unless you're talking of the CLR
designed to support WPF/E?

Unless you're using the MicroCLR which I don't think is released yet, I
think you'd need to target Embedded with C++ (which I think you can do
with
VS, but don't quote me).  I tend to be wrong about releases of projects
that
I don't follow closely (like the MicroCLR) so if someone knows if it was
released, please correct me.

With Visual Studio 2005, I can develop C# applications - at least, they

up as an option under 'New Project's.  If I wish to target Windows XP
Embedded, what is required.  Also, is there a separate Windows Embedded
Studio (or is that just a part of Visual Studio)?  I am having a hard
time
telling from the MS links I have reviewed.
