Invalid Characters while building XML/Text files

Hi All

I am trying to write a program which takes a text file
as input and builds an XML.

Everything works fine except that, it inserts 2
invalid characters before the XML processing
instruction which makes the XML invalid. The 2
characters are

‡;

And also I am trying to build 2 text files with some
data, but even they include 2 invalid
characters(ß ,€@) before the start of the data.

Can someone help me in getting over this. I would
really appreciate any help in this regard.
