Although I agree with the post ( that it seems to be typo ), I agree with Paul too that it is first impression that matters ( unfortunately ). I would have reacted similarly as Paul ... :( -----Original Message----- From: Paul Mehner [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2002 10:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DOTNET-JOBS] Short-term C# Positions Open > To be fair, the 'mistakes' in Tomas' post look to me like the usual typos etc. > that you get from typing quickly in a listserver post - they don't look like > problems of poor understanding of English, so I doubt you could use them to > make any deductions about likely quality of documentation I am a potential employer, and a potential customer. You can believe that it doesn't matter if you wish, or you can imagine that I am some non-representative ogre of a school teacher; however, this will not change the reality that I reached an immediate negative opinion based on his post. On the topic of development and documentation, the poster emphasized how English was his firm's first language. If a car salesman showed me a new car with a cracked windshield and a sprung door, but tried to tell me that my car would be different, I would walk off the lot. Studies have shown that once an opinion has been solidified in the mind of the prospect or employer, it takes an average of seven contradictions to that opinion to bring about a change. When soliciting business and employment, quality _does_ count. First impressions are lasting ones. In my opinion, it is a mistake to pretend that email is different from other forms of correspondence. I promise that I won't say another word about this, so no further posts please. --Paul
