Agile Software Craftsman (with project to share) seeks DC Metro Area team
In celebration of the 25 year anniversary of my first program, I am seeking
an agile team to share my knowledge and energy with. Are you a team that
embraces quality, strives to be better tomorrow, and encourages this in
every member? Are you looking for another colleague that will help create
and foster these qualities? How would you like an associate who brings an
additional income stream with them? Do you embrace Domain Driven
Development? Are you in the DC Metro/Baltimore Area?
As a business owner of a single member LLC, I am an 'army of one'. Having
partaken of the joys of pairing, I would prefer to join an active team and
am looking forward to time spent as an apprentice, mentor, trainer, and
presenter. I have had many people comment that their team "seems more
alive" when I am present. I hope this isn't solely due to my interest in
Airzooka guns <http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/toys/60b6/> .
In addition to supporting your projects, I bring an existing long term
government contract. This is not your typical government contract. NIH
feels like an academic institution. The client is open to agile practices
and principles. The support schedule is very flexible. They request an
average of two days of effort per week. Obviously, this will not support an
entire team. It will only augment, providing an additional income stream.
The product also has many possibilities for expansion. I am investigating
possible technology transfer funding options. This would increase the
available funding and the resource requirements. Are you interested in
growing a commercially viable application?
I began Object Oriented programming many years ago; squeezing every ounce
out of the limited resources provided at the time. While my development is
in the Microsoft arena, I have learned most of my programming practices from
the Java, SmallTalk, and Ruby communities. Having worked on .NET projects
since early Beta, I am proficient in VB.NET and C# - both Web and WinForms.
I regularly attend area user groups including Washington DC XP User Group
(XPWDC) and Washington Object Architecture and Design Group (WOAD).
While I have not participated on a 'true' XP project, I have been studying
and practicing Agile Methodologies for over 3 years. I am very familiar
with NUnit (and NUnitAddin) and have used Fitnesse, NUnitAsp, NUnitForms,
EasyMock.net, NHibernate, Bamboo/Prevaylor, NEO, Spring.net, and a few
others. I am also working with Dave Astels and Patrick Wilson-Welsh of
Adaption Software to provide Test Driven Development Training.
In an effort to avoid information overload to the list, I will furnish my
