Copying/Duplicate User Session

Is there any way I can duplicate a user's session - I'm looking for a
solution to the following problem. Our web site has to allow the user to
open a new window with a copy of the current session - we are currently
thinking of having a hyperlink at the top of the screen that says launch
new window which simply opens a browser window with the current screen
what we'd really like to do is duplicate the session to a new session
id. The reason being is we store the user navigation information within
session (the pages the user has visited within the site) and we need
this to be independent of window.
