Whilst it fun to build your own grid, buying an advanced component in would save time and money and add enormous value to your project. There are quite a few to choose from.... one I found quickly was http://www.infragistics.com/dotnet/netadvantage/winforms/wingrid.aspx#Overview This is not the only datagrid 3rd party control - it's the first I found. Without priority support it costs $795, roughly £400, if you work out how long it would take you to create this component..... the maths is easy. And only stupid managers would deny the cost savings( don't put it like that though!) I need to have interleaved rows with different column layouts, and I need e.g. three column header rows, also all with different column layouts. If you can offer any advice on how to achieve this with a DataGridView I would concider you a hero and set about trying to do it post haste. > -----Original Message----- > From: Discussion forum for developers using Windows Forms to build apps > and controls [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of > Adrian Martin > Sent: 05 November 2007 12:49 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [DOTNET-WINFORMS] Grid from TexBoxes is Slow > > I guess the DataGridViews only look like rows and rows of textboxes, > when the Grid has an active cell it dynamically creates the correct > control( eg TextBox ) and postions it on top and infront of the cell. > > I don't have a grid handy at the minute but WinSpy++ should confirm > this..... > > Surely the shortcut to speeding up your grid is to replace it with a > DataViewGrid! > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Discussion forum for developers using Windows Forms to build apps > and controls [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of > Brady Kelly > Sent: 5-November-2007 09:32 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Grid from TexBoxes is Slow > > I've build a prototype custom grid using rows of TextBox controls, but > it's > quite slow.
