Re: New to the Java world

If your focus is going to be M$, why not use C#? By the time you finish
learning C#, you'll know java syntax anyway.

walk before you run.

Getting an IDE may be a good idea, but be aware of what is happening
under the covers.
Get a good book (Bruce Eckel's 'Thinking in Java' is highly recommended
and is also available online (http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/)
The equivalent of COM+ is EJB, but learn the basics first.
IIS is just a web server, there are many, many examples in the Java
space. Check out Tomcat (jakarta.apache.org) for example,
