I took a quick tour of some the Jawin code, and it looks like Stuart
(the original developer of Jawin) had added some code here and there,
that actually supports passing ansi strings to Jawin. We just need to
tie up a few loose ends to get it to work (that is my guess at least, I
may have overlooked something), and test it (and document it).

So I will put it on my list of todo things, and I hope I will get around
to it within the next 14 days. Unfortunately I can not promise to look
at it any quicker than that. If you are in a hurry to get it to work on
Win98 I suggest you try out the above mentioned ice.jni.registry.

Roger, if you are reading this, do you have any input about whether to
add/finish the ansi-string support? Eg. like is it obsolete to support,
since MS themselves are pushing to discontinue Win98, and hopefully soon
we will only have Unicode aware OS'es? But of course this only counts
for ansi-string methods in the Win32 API. On the other hand people may
have legacy DLL's with ansi string methods for a lot longer time? So my
personal stand is that we should try to support this if possible.

Oh, no reason to excuse for opening the bug. You did the right thing, as
it indeed does not work on Win98. I just asked to make sure that the bug
and your email was about the same issue.
