The issuer of the object will probably increase the version number. E.g.
an example will (hopefully) clearify this: In my registry I have the
following entries for the XMLHttp component:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Microsoft.XMLHTTP
and
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Microsoft.XMLHTTP.1.0

The "no-version" entry has a subkey: CurVer with the value:
        Microsoft.XMLHTTP.1.0

If several versions of XMLHttp was installed, the wanted version can be
used by using the ProgID with the relevant version. (e.g
"Microsoft.XMLHTTP.1.0" for ver.1, "Microsoft.XMLHTTP.2.0" for ver.2,
etc.). If the "no-version" ProgID is used, the version pointed to in the
CurVer-key will be used (and the value of this probably depends on which
version was installed last?).

correct me if I am wrong. Or elaborate on this explanation if neeeded.
