To use the type browser, you will have to have a windows type library.

Perhaps this exe contains type information, just try to open it.

From memory, windows sound recorder looks like an old MFC program and as
most of the functionality is provided through the user interface its
unlikely to sport a type library.

Perhaps there are some windows API calls you could hook to achieve what you
are after?

Better still, use the JavaSound API bundled with all versions on the JVM =]
