Ok, tonight I comitted my first cut at a new factory function for the split 
pane widget. It's a boatload of new code, but the test pages work much better 
for me under Moz than they ever have before although there are still some 
problems with event attaching and IE movement support that I need to iron out 
before I call it "done". I haven't been able to escape the doOnPlacement 
hacks, but I'm willing to live with that for the time being. The adventurous 
and the Mozilla using can try the new code out now, but I recommend holding 
off for another couple of days while I keep cleaning things up before you go 
this route for more stable apps. I'll post back when the IE kinks are ironed 
out.

I feel much better having this at least most of the way towards being 
complete. As always, bug reports are most welcome.
