Hey, thanks Alex for your very helpful and well considered reply! Oh and by the way, sigslot rocks my little javascript world at the moment :) > We should have a new release of this library out SRTL. Let me know if > you want a pre-release build (basically only missing docs in Spanish) > and I'll post one to the list. That'd be great. I'm using the 1.2 release from your website at the moment. > > > Phew! Took a day to find that one. > > = \ > > Sorry 'bout that. Well, half the time was spent reading the sigslot library from top to bottom. So it was a good excuse to get to know how it worked. > It is, however, much more > lightweight (saves at least one Function object per class instance, > and more in inheritance). > I suppose it'd be trivial to make a light-weight instance method (as the slot) call a heavy-weight class method if you're really worried about it. Hey, perhaps, in some situation I can't imagine right now, you could find reason to make a class method a slot so that it also calls the same method of all current instances. It this situation the generally counter-intuitive behaviour may be useful :). You'd only need to make one connection!
