How to handle DBTYPE_VARNUMERIC in ATL consumer template

Hello All,
How do I handle the convertion of the DBTYPE_VARNUMERIC to long/double?
I found Microsoft KB on it, but it does not work; the algorithm was giving
very large values.

Any help?
