I'm looking for some advise about whether to use Oracle OCI to access an Oracle DB as opposed to OLEDB with either the Oracle or MS provider. Don't have any experience with OCI, OLEDB I'm fine with Server environment will be ATL/VC++/COM+/2000 - One thing I'll definitely need is the ability to enlist connections in an MSDTC transaction - The ability to call stored procs and have the stored procs return an SP result-code - Send Batched SQL from middle tier to DB - Return multiple result-sets from the DB server Would OCI be faster What is other peoples experience of OCI in terms of development and maintenance burden when compared to OLEDB, I've seen reports of OCI where you need patches for this, the right version for that and the other etc etc etc.... Finally can anyone recommend a good Oracle DB developers reference book TIA Regards, Phillip Allan-Harding Tel: +44 (0)161 980 4136 Mobile: +44 (0)7778 561119 Email: [email protected] Web: http://www.graphicboost.com You can read messages from the OLEDB_DEV archive, unsubscribe from OLEDB_DEV, or subscribe to other DevelopMentor lists at http://discuss.develop.com.
