Gothenburg 1 Nov 2002
We are proud to announce the release of v.3.0 of the Callista Component
Tester.
The Callista Component Tester is a component test utility that allows
you to dynamically invoke methods on any COM component. This tool takes
away all the tedious work of writing simple test applications to test
functionality in components. By using this tool you can call virtually
any method on any COM component. The following list describes some of
the features in the tool:
* View the COM type information for a component including its
interfaces, classes and methods. All interesting COM entities can be
viewed at any level in the structure.
* Make calls to any of the methods in the component. The tool
supports both stateless and stateful components.
* View the result from a call and use it as input to another
call. The calls can be saved and reused later.
* As a debugging tool the Component Tester is invaluable. If the
component loaded in Component Tester is also running in debug mode in
the development environment then method calls will be executed in the
debug session.
What's new in version 3.0?
* Added support for Xml. String result containing an Xml header
will be possible to view using the Internet Explorer HTML control.
* Support for load tests. It is possible to create load tests by
building a custom driver component (or use any COM component for that
matter), which is then invoked with an increased load. The load test can
run for a given number of iterations, run for a fixed duration or run
with increased number of simulated clients until a specified
response-time limit is exceeded.
* Visual Studio integration in the form of an Add-in that starts
the project and the Component Tester automatically.
* Improved functions for saving and working with existing result
sets.
