File Operations

Hi,
         I have a small doubt in file operation in vb, see i am opening a
file for reading by looping through the content of file. While doing so i
am using EOF(filevariable). Before that i am opening the file in input
mode. If i open the file will that be loaded in memory or how it is. While
doing EOF condition will that point to physical file every time or checks
the condition by taking the content from memory. Any ideas..
