By chance, are you trying to configure COM+ to communicate through a firewall? I suspect so when you start talking about what port communication is going to occur on. Check out this article: http://www.microsoft.com/com/wpaper/dcomfw.asp It should help clarify a few things about ports and tcp comm. I used this successfully about 2 years ago on a project, so I know its acurate.
