If I use UdpAppender in Log4Net, I need to write a program to receive Udp
message, right?

I am currently using RollingFileAppender for my application, is there any
similar tools like Chainsaw that can be used to view logfile of
RollingFileAppender?

Thanks

The new version of Log4J's Chainsaw (only available for now via CVS) can
receive Log4Net-generated events.

On the Chainsaw side, specify a UDPReceiver in the configuration.

On the Log4Net side, specify a UdpAppender configured to use an
XmlLayoutSchemaLog4j layout.

If you're interested in trying the new version of Chainsaw, go to
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/cvsindex.html and retrieve the jakarta-log4j
module and build it.

An alpha release binary should be available soon for download.

If you have further questions about Chainsaw, feel free to email me.

Scott
