I uploaded the zip file to the SF site. It is patch number [905560].

We would be very interested in having a look at your implementation. If
possible please post this on the user list.

We do want to add asynchronous logging to log4net, however we have not
settled on a design that allows all appenders to be used asynchronously
while maintaining performance.
